Am I right in saying you only get a batch number with a b.m.d search on the L.D.S and not if you are looking at results from the census???? Sue.

Lesley ,the batch numbers can be found when you go into the individual record of the person on the IGI At the bottom of the page it says source information and the batch numbers are found there hope this helps

Hi Lesley, When you have the IGI record of your ancestor on the screen, scroll right down, to Source Information, and if there is a batch # for that particular record it will be stated there with sheet # and source call number. There wont always be a batch number. Some entries have been submitted by LDS members or others and no further information is provided by them. These are not always reliable. As for batch #s, those starting with C or M are fairly reliable, those starting with A or no initial are suspect. Every record you obtain form the family search site should be checked against birth marriage or death certificates, parish records etc. Hope this helps. Diana.

I think you get batch numbers on all searches on LDS. All the info I have found and have made notes of have numbers at the bottom and the address i.e RG11-4184-42-46. When you look at the household, scroll down the page and all the details are there. Hope this helps. THANKS everyone for your help. Knew I was being thick!

Hi again, They don't all have batch numbers but those that have been submitted by LDS members do have the submitters details, so that you can contact them. I did write a letter to one of them, but got no reply. Found out later he was a distant relative and deceased, so of course he couldn't reply!!! However it is worth trying. Di.
