Hi Everyone; Is there anyone who can tell me about the army barracks in Chatham circa 1870. My gggrandfather was deployed from there back to Curragh Camp in Ireland. Are the baracks still there? Is there a website where I can try to figure out which regiment he was in? Would therse barracks have had married quarters? He was married in 1870 in Chatham, first child born 1874 in Curragh Camp, Kildare. Thanks for amy help you can give. |

Teresa, If you type in Chatham Barracks in your search engine you will get loads of info come up. Chatham Dockyard is no longer working, but it is now a museum and has been vastly extended, with housing. The Army Barracks are just up the road in Gillingham. Lynda |
