I've traced some ancestors to Kilteevan, Roscommon, Ireland, but don't know very much about the family which was big; can anyone look up Henry and Anne Walsh and their children? Some children were born in the late 1860's but I don't know who exactly and I don't have a marriage date: any help would be wonderful. Thanks! |

hi i know that my mother-in-law came from leitrim but wether that was the town or county, not sure ,her name was mary ann keegan born 7/2/1915 she came to england c1930 she never spoke about her childhood and did,nt even have a birth certificate, i believe she had a brother called jack but that is our only knowledge of her, is that enough to go on. she always seemed to hint darkly about some trouble with the black and tans, if you could give some advise i would be grateful thanks marcie x |

Hi Irish experts, Please - 1. does anyone know useful sources for Kilkenny county, 1870s? 2. can you apply for a cert to GRO at Dublin knowing only name,year, county, father's name or would that be a waste of time & money? thanks, Marian |

Marcia, hi, the only thing I suggest is that you try and look for the mother-in-law's birth as a start. I tried the IGI for you but no luck.. What about the VRI? Sorry can't be more help. Helen |

Marian, hello, not an Irish expert but probably will be by the time I've sorted out my husband's ancestors!! For County Kilkenny, have you looked at www(.)rootsweb(.)com(/)~irlkik(/) On the question of Dublin certs, I haven't definitely decided whose I'm going to order so can't advise here. The only thing I would say is that I never send off for a certificate on the off-chance because it could become very expensive so I always make sure first I know who I'm getting. So far so good.
