Whilst surfing I found this link; www.taliesin-arlein(.)net/names/search.php It contains all the surnames in England, Wales and the Isle of Man. You can search for yours and it tells you how many are living at the present time. There are approx 3515 Ords but only 7 Hoecks (my ggrandmother's surname). Any Hoecks out there, we are probably related!! lol Have fun Russell |

Well, one of my family names CHOWNS has only 178. The downside is that the WILLIAMS are no. 3 in the rankings, there are 380,379 of them! So the 65,352 MATTHEWS and the 67,549 GRAYS aren't quite as common as I'd thought! Helen (oh and there are 222,580 Evans and on my husband's side of the family, some of them married into those ubiquitous Williams, but not my Williams. That would be too simple!) |

Just checked Evitts 412 Ranking =13106 checked the other spelling of the name which I thought was less common but its coming up higher Evetts 497 = 11423 Holden 22,464 Ranking 315 Well not surprising Smith is ranked number One as I thought it would, having a bit fun checking the highest ranking names. |

I've just looked at my maiden name GEDEN, only 148. Doesn't surprise me, I have found there are so many variations of the name going back that there are probably more in ofshoots of the spelling. Diane |

Yes Russell, theres me,my mother and possibly an Aunt by marriage (she may be dead by now) I am the only Tocqueville born with the name and still using it in the UK |
