Sheila Report 17 Sep 2004 11:19

My Great great Grandfather died at 8 Providence place, Hove in 1882, and at that time his son lived in Vere Road Brighton, so I assumed he would be buried in the town, so I sent off my £12.50 to Brighton council, but they cannot find any trace of him in the 8 cemeterys in their control, and suggest I contact a privatly run cemetery on Hartington Road, but that wasnt operating until 1886, four years after he died. I have been researching his life for over 3 years, and am pretty well on the way to solving the many mysteries in his life, and hoped to end the trail by a visit to his grave. This would mean so much to me as he really caught my imagination. I am so upset, that I am on the verge of throwing in the towel, as I have spent a fortune (Havent we all) on this one fascinating man, but I really dont know where to go from here. Can anyone out there suggest a churchyard near to his addess or somewhere else in the town he could have been buried. He could have course been buried in another town, but I have no contact with this branch of my family, so will never know. Any advice very welcome. Sheila. (Mid. Wales)
