All three of those are likely to fall into the West Midlands area - and, in particular, Sandwell. Although it doesn't have a huge amount of data on yet, and is updated only occasionally (anything up to 18 months apart!) this free BMD database may be useful for some of you: http://www.bmsgh.org/wmbmd/ I specifically mentioned Sandwell because that's the area for which most transcriptions seem to have been done. B (417,753)- Sandwell & Walsall M (107,299)- Sandwell D (2,415)- Sandwell You can apply to the local office, using their refs, instead of the GRO using its refs - same fees; occasionally records missing from GRO are on local RO indexes; the marriage record database comes up with the name of the venue of the Wedding, so, if it's a church, you might consider trying to obtain a photocopy of the parish register (ca 50p, sometimes subject to a £5 minimum fee for admin if it's done for you and posted) instead of getting a formal cert (£7). For anyone with an interest in late 19th C (1870-9; 1880-5;1890-4) Baptisms in nearby Handsworth, this site would be of interest; http://www.search.digitalhandsworth.org.uk/engine/resource/exhibition/standard/default.asp? txtKeywords=&lstContext=&lstResourceType=&lstExhibitionType=3&chkPurchaseVisible=&txt DateFrom=&txtDateTo=&originator=%2Fengine%2Fcustom%2Fgallery%2Easp&page=&records =&direction=&pointer=1056&text=0&resource=4456 (you need to take out all the Return-strokes: it's a single address which takes you straight to the relevant page.) I had BENNETTs in Handsworth - hence my interest. Unfortunately just the wrong dates! I did find a couple of marriages, though, on the BMD site. Christine
