On the subject of names, my mother told me her grandmother's name was Mary Ann Wallace but she was married as Mary Ann Bell, her widowed mother having married a Wallace.

Where did you get the name Weller from anyway? Could the mistake lie there? Carole P.S. I live in Dartford, so I know the geography of this area pretty well if you have any questions!

Karen, I was brought up in London mainly Islington thats North of the Thames N.1 very central, for the West End but some of the area used to in Middlesex??? London as Greater London is still expanding outwards seems one day there won't be any of the surrounding Counties left. This is the way I look at the areas. South East London was Kent South West was Surrey North West Middlesex North East Essex Good Luck Karen, Pat x

Karen Bexley is found in the district of Dartford, thats why I think this is your man. I know this isnt solving the marriage question but I was trying to get a birth detail confirmed first, then maybe you can for marriage dates and spouse, Its not your fault with the Geography, with london expanding out to the Home Counties all the time it gets difficult to check the geography from that time. By the way its worse where my people come from as those areas changed Counties Completely, one minute your checking Shropshire, then Staffordshire and Worcestershire and even Warwickshire. You are not alone. Pat x

Don't have any details of the marriage except they were married by the 1901 census. My grandma was born in 1903.

well..... On the 1901 census.......it says he was born ay Bexley heath & his age was 30. Sarah Anne was 29. They were living in St Mary Cray & he was a milkman. That would make his DOB 1871. On the 1881 census he was 8 which make his DOB 1873. That also said he was born Bexley Heath. Any ideas?? Haven't found much on Sarah Weller.Maybe I will adopt Sarah Berry ! Karen

I looked at the original indexes, you have to look at each name. They are typed, and it is definitely Sarah Anne Berry. Carole

St Mary Cray is just the other side of Bexley, so that's not far away either. Have you looked at the image of the index? It might be available on FreeBMD. It isn't the actual certificate, but its worth a try, just in case the index has been mistranscribed onto FreeBMD. Carole

HI I am going mad trying to find details for my Martin & Weller family. Job Martin married Sarah Anne Weller in Kent, but the closest match I can find on free BMD is for Job MArtin marrying Sarah Anne Berry, in Woolwich. What do you think?? Also, is Woolwich anywhere near Bexley or St Mary Cray??? I know......I'm desperate. Thanks Karen
