Hi Louise Beleive it or not, she is Annie. Have just found family on 1891 census and she is down as Annie (daug) 22. Also listed is William Rimmer (son-in-law) 21 Jackie

Hi Louise, I would go with Alice, my first impressions were that the first letter is an open A there's definitely an I in it and was unsure if the end is an E or an N if you already have the name Alice I would be incline to go with that one..... I bet they never thought we'd have this much trouble trying to read their curly scrawls eh? ;) Doh ..... beaten to it! Sioux

Oooo yup I've found it now Jacqueline, and to throw a spanner in the works it looks like she has a little sister called Alice! so you could take your pick depending on which age fitted! :D Sioux

Jackie - that's where i got the name annie from - but i can't find a Annie tyrer marring a William Rimmer would it possible though that if her name was Alice that 17 years later - her younger sister would be called alice as well I know for a fact the younger one is definatly an Alice (great grandma - just teh sisters are driving me potty Louise (really confused)

Tracey

Tracey Report 20 Nov 2004 15:00

I think it could say Ann. It's very much like the Ann written a few names above it but with a more open A. Tracey

Louise Just to confuse things even more William and ALICE Rimmer appear on the 1901 Census!! Perhaps she wasn't quite sure what she wanted to be called. lol :-) Jackie

Louise2212 Report 20 Nov 2004 15:18

i know - can you understand why i'm pulling my hair out now, lol can anybody find her on 1871?

Tracey

Tracey Report 20 Nov 2004 15:19

And to confuse things a bit more i've found a marriage for a Sarah. A. Tyrer to William Rimmer in Liverpool 1890!! Maybe Annie/Alice was a middle name. Tracey
