Have you looked in the 1901 census for him. This would give his year of birth.

My Ggrandfather was married on 17th November 1922 age 23 would he be born 1899 or 1900? I have sent for a birth certificate for end of 1898 as I looked at 1898 and half way in 1899 and only found One Joseph A Loftus but it is the wrong one.............................. Thanks upfront to all who can help me.
