Just found this Spike Milligan did have 'I told you I was Ill' as His Epitaph BUT it is in Gaelic so Chichester diocese would aprove it

When my father died in 2000, he had left instructions for his headstone which was to read 'Life is short'. The Funeral Director phoned me some weeks later in desperate embarrassment to say there had been a bit of a delay because - the stone had been received with the Inscription 'Life is shot'.
