I had a problem find ing my grandad, all myb life I had known him as Derek Albert Lovell, but turned out he was actually Albert Derek, even my Dad didn't know that. So I was wondering if it was not even his first name, perhaps a middle name? Ann

Val Report 25 Feb 2005 09:47

That's ok Pat I am just feeling down thought I had found his family but if my grandad was born out of wedlock his ancestors now won't know of him anyway maybe only his dad and grandparents knew and that is why they paid for his education

thank you everyone, in 1891 he was a boarder and he was still with the old couple. I wonder if Thomas Watts kids was where my grandad came from

Gypsy

Gypsy Report 24 Feb 2005 13:34

Laird, I had thought of that! It appears that between 1871 and 1881 thomas Watts was widowed and remarried to Fanny Reading. No children in 1871, for either of them, Thomas has grandchildren with him, searched them in 1881, and no clues there! Pat

some thoughts - did that couple (Thos and Fanny Watts) have a daur in the 1871 census - maybe Arthur is their grandson ...? Or were they friends who took the child in .... Theres a older Dalton lady born Kenilworth, living nearby in Fosehill - she had daurs in 1871 .... sorry cant explore this more fully - my browser keeps crashing when using Ancestry .....
