Afternoon went OK. They have started using a newer form of testing which is a bit more uncomfortable but more accurate than the one I had previously. The nurse was lovely and made me very relaxed which helped. Was a bit more difficult this time as my womb is retroverted now for some reason so harder to find the bits to test. Still, all over now and hope for good results. Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. I feel really blessed to have so many people rooting for me. Back on form now and raring to go. Love to all.

PMSL @ HEATHER!! Only just seen this thread, hope all is well Joan! Last time I went for a smear - just before christmas - the nurse just started and then asked me if I was having Beef or Turkey for Christmas dinner!!! I suppose it beats 'are you going anywhere nice for the holidays!?!' Cate :))

I agree Nell, last time I had a smear done the nurse was so quick I didn't even realised she'd done it until she said 'right that's it, you can get up now'!!

Never had a mammogram, but I had a smear test last week. The nurse said 'I hope that wasn't too uncomfortable' but I hardly noticed. Compared with childbirth, its a doddle! nell

ROFL , Heather, that was so funny! All the best Joan.............at least you are getting it all over in one day! My fingers + toes are crossed for you , that all goes well. Strange how men seem to think it's all so easy....the mind boggles IF they had to go through it!! Ann x

I hope you think about all this Joan when you get the 'legs up, knees flop apart' command! God bless I must admit I started grinning to myself last time because just before I had read a 'Most Embarrassing Moment' in a womans mag. This lady went for a smear and had a wee just before she went in (like you do). No loo paper, so she fishes some tissues out of her shopping bag. When the doctor comes in he gets down to the job and then holds up a shopping receipt, asking where that could have come from?

I know what you mean Heather, no nice memories for me in that dept either. Very kind nurse decided to 'WARM' the speculum under the HOT tap....Bless 'er!! I felt like a Kebab!!

LOL, by the time they were finished I couldnt feel anything below the waist! No, I think I got a trainee unfortunately! She must have been practicing on blow up dolls! Ive always found male doctors are better at the task. I guess they still think its all a bit of a mystery whereas female nurses .......................... 'Come along, stop wriggling' attitude. Not all, but some.

Will be sending positive vibes Joan. (Hope you dont have to have extra nurse brought in to assist in smear, like my last time!!) And ask them to warm up the mammogram first.

Thanks for your support Lara. I had breast cancer in 1993 so am keeping fingers crossed, will cross legs on Wednesday after the other bits are checked. I feel very positive that all will be well.
