A great many thanks to you all, I have lots of imformation on Sarah Ann, two marriage certificates death certificate addresses after 91, where she is burried, will now send off for her birth certificate, my mum is very reluctent to talk much about her childhood in Bootle (Must respect her wishes for that), but she knows very little about her mother's background, Unlike me who wants to know the lot and went on my great hunt so I guess when I could not find them on the 81 Census I got too obsessed with that part of it so looking at Grandpa Jims imfo I will give that bit a long rest. So many thanks and good hunting to you all.

Irene Report 22 Mar 2005 21:07

Right had another look for Henry with a daughter Sarah/Ann or for a Bridget with a daughter Sarah/Ann sorry I could not find any. The nearest I could get was that Thomas and Bridget with Anne. Have you looked on the IGI or Hugh Wallis batch numbers. Irene

Phillip, Hope you have found something useful here! Meanwhile, I'm responding to the 'save me' part of your message with a suggestion ... perhaps we should form a 'self-help' group for desperate and bewildered genealogists to enable us to kick the habit?!? Happy hunting. Regs Jane

There are no end of reasons why they can't be found on any particular Census. Holidays, staying at a relatives, at boarding school, in Prison, or even just missed off. Maybe the Birth Cert might give you a lead to a different area? Good luck, let us know how you get on. Jim

It would help if we could see the 1891 census info please. Who's she living with? Is she mistranscribed?

McDitzy

McDitzy Report 22 Mar 2005 18:01

Maybe they went back to Ireland??

McDitzy Report 22 Mar 2005 18:01

Will have a look, but the fact that she's living the Gannan household on 1891 gives strong support for the marriage you mention. It would probably be best if you buy the birth cert, it will at least give you another address to look up for the 1881.

Grandpa Jim, Heather, I will do that, but why do the three of them not show up anywhere on the 81 census but Sarah Ann does on the 91 census.

Heather

Heather Report 22 Mar 2005 17:50

Yes, that would be the logical thing to do, get her birth cert for £7 (2 years looking -must be worth £7) from Liverpool and then you will have both her mum and dads names. BTW us members have no control over GR's headings re St Patrick!

Unknown Report 22 Mar 2005 17:43

As you have the Reference number why don't you send for her Birth Certificate? That will give you her mother's maiden name.

Hi Folk's, I have been looking for my grandmother Sarah Ann Campbell born March Quarter 1878 St.Peters Liverpool for the last two years, her father was Henry Campbell, I cannot find her on the 1881 census but have found her on the 1891 census living in Crooked Lane (sounds like a Dickens Novel) Liverpool, I am not certain of her mothers name but there is a Henry Campbell who married a Bridget Gannon St.peters 1875 she died 1884 and is burried in Anfield Cemetery, but could someone have a look in the 1881 census for me and see if they could find her, I would be forever in their debt, I have tried every angle that I know to find her and my mum knows now't, by the way the header for St.Patricks day on the main page is a bit out of date!!!!!!. Mnay thanks . Phillip.
