Dea Thank you. Louise Yes, I know, I've been there before. What a maddening hobby this is! Never mind, I am going to see my mum tomorrow and show her photos of her grandparents' grave, which she's never seen. nell

Nell, Remember that sometimes it is better to travel in hope than to arrive. I got a cert in the post this morning but it was the wrong one! Seven pounds wasted and back to square one!!! I hope yours are OK when they do arrive. Louise

Oh Boy , I've missed you lot. I've been internetless since I tried to go Broadband on thursday. Had to ask the husband of a work colleague to sort it out for me in the end . First thing I read when he left is this & I'm off laughing already. Thanks everyone Vivienne

Oh Nell, I shouldn't laugh but initials? lol Just typical isn't it? I think they're all up there having a good laugh at us and every once in a while throw us a few crumbs just to keep themselves entertained as we scurry around pecking at them! Daisy

Daisy Glad to hear about your breakthrough. I am getting very cross with some of my rellies. I found one today who I think is a cousin of my great-grandfather. Got him on the 1891 census and the blighter has just put initials for all his children and self!!!!! What a nuisance! nell

Normally Nell I would agree with you as my brick walls have been driving me insane. However, as Lou knows, I had a major breakthrough with 2 of them last night so I'm very happy today. Have just ordered 5 certificates today and am hoping they'll hold a few more nuggets. Can't suggest a cure for impatience as I'm the world's worst! Daisy

Hi, I've just had a laugh at all your comments. I was thinking I'd got some sort of illness, I can't leave my computer alone. I keep thinking of different tracks to go down & I'm off - tapping into BMD or something. I have cleared up a few problems this morning, but I think I've been on for nearly a week solidly since I bought FTM. I'm also waiting for certs I sent off for loads at once, in my anxiety. Is there a cure?

Dea That was this morning! This is now! I actually feel more impatient now that I have ordered the certs than I did earlier. Silly I know. I bet when they arrive they won't have the info I want, or will just raise a lot of other questions... never mind. I have been going through all my research files and am staggered at how much I have found out (and managed to forget I had found out) in the last 2 years, mainly with help from the brilliant people here. Lou How can I afford a good therapist, I've just spent a fortune on certificates!!!!! nell

Not at all Nell - I have to order a birth certificate to confirm parents names, but not 'allowed' till beginning of next month (had my quota this month!!) Also an unrelated marriage cert to help on a different line I'm stuck at....but like you I don't want to wait, I want them NOW!!! lol

I know nobody can help. I have come to some brick walls in my research and have ordered some certs which I hope will give me some information to enable me to move forwards. I am now eaten up with impatience I WANT THEM NOW! I need to know who John Matthews' dad was and I want his marriage cert NOW! Ditto Annie Broad who married in 1897. Not only do I want to confirm she is the right Annie, I also want her address so I can find her in 1891. I want to know NOW!! And I must find out what Charles Vine died of in 1896 and I have to have the parents names on John william Chowns' death cert from 1851... am I being unreasonable? nell
