My Grandmother was known as Minnie and her name was Erminia (Italian)

I had same problems as you with a Minnie! Lost track of her, then found her under the name of Frances!! The only reason I could think of is that her Mums name was Frances too, so Minnie was used to differentiate from her mum -meaning 'small' xxx

I've a sister of a gtx?? grandmother whose birth cert I got to find my gt.grandma and she was registered as Minnie.

I have a great-aunt whose real name was Minnie. Joy

... I have an Aminda in my tree and her nickname is Minnie. Just another name to add to the collection :)

i have many ' minnie's' in my tree~ they were their real names,and in my case not short for anything!

Minnie drivers name was Amelia, not sure if Minnie was short for it or just a different name, but you could try it.
