Susan -- it's all as clear as mud. But there are separate collections -- US, UK, Europe etc. Separate subs, separate free offers. Looks like the one you signed up to on a free trial wasn't the one you wanted. That's why it kept asking you to subscribe. If you've now subscribed to a different collection, I'm afraid they've probably taken the money and they'll probably keep it. And if you don't make sure you cancel the free trial, they'll subscribe you to that collection as well, on day 15

I still can't find it. If anyone else sees it, could you post the end of the url on here please? eg /subscribe/subscribeplanstx_v2uk(.)asp?o_iid=18289&o_lid=18289&o_it=18294 I've wanted to join ancestry for ages, but I think £70 is too expensive. What deos eveyone else think?

I bet you are glad Valerie saw it is well, Margaret! I STILL haven't seen the blooming thing. Oh! and I don't get any flashing adverts on Genes either!!(propably cos I have a pop up blocker). Ann :)

Valerie Im so glad Im not the only one to see it.Must admit though it keeps changing to 69.95 then back to 29.95. They would have far more join if they were not so expensive. They lose more by those getting look ups.

The free trial has flashed on again.Be quick

Battenburg Report 8 Jun 2005 16:58

I was on the Ancestry site and the offer flashed up.Its happened before so I checked it out.I agree it now says 69.95 so they must throw in the offer every now and then.I printed it and at the bottom the date is 9/6/2005.I have the select a plan details which says 69.95 at the top but the offer at the bottom says 29.95.I have opened Ancestry again.I has now changed to say complete 1861 census for England and Wales. The only thing I can think is they keep changing like the offers you see flashing on genes site. One I have opened says view 20 family history records for 6.95.I clicked to learn more and that has the 29.95 deal. I guess you have to be there when the offer comes up. When my subscription is up Im going to cancel.I think its wrong that they automaticaly charge you..What if you cant afford it

Tracey

Tracey Report 8 Jun 2005 16:34

Where did you find the offer? The only free trial I can find says I'llb e charged £69.95 if I don't cancel. The only £29.95 I can find on the site is for the quarterly subscription.

Battenburg

Battenburg Report 8 Jun 2005 16:25

Just to let you know I have printed a copy of the offer

Battenburg

Battenburg Report 8 Jun 2005 16:21

I have Ancestry opened twice as easier to use.Right now I can see the offer 29.95 If I open Ancestry again the free trial says 69.95 The earlier offer says your card will not be charged if you cancel after the 2 weeks but as you say how would you prove the offer was only 29.95. Wonder if anyone HAS actually paid 29.95

Ann

Ann Report 8 Jun 2005 16:13

It makes you wonder, if after the free trial they will automatically charge £69.95. It would be difficult to prove that you had actually seen the lower price!

Battenburg

Battenburg Report 8 Jun 2005 16:10

Perhaps they only put it on for short bursts as another member said he had seen the cheap price too. Cheap skates

Battenburg

Battenburg Report 8 Jun 2005 16:06

Its weird.I was on Ancestry and the free trial was offered went to have a look and saw the price. This has happened before and I got in touch with Ancestry support regarding the price difference. They told me I had paid $59.95 but I had paid pounds. Now the price is 69.95.pounds.Sorry dont have a pound sign.I went back to have another look and the free trial has gone again at the cheap price. WHAT ARE THEY PLAYING AT.

Lucky Report 8 Jun 2005 15:59

Is that right, will go and have a look. Just looked and it says £69.95, where did you see it cheaper??

Battenburg

Battenburg Report 8 Jun 2005 15:53

Noticed they are offering a 14 day free trial and after it only costs 29.95 for the full year subscription. Why did they rest of us have to pay the full price of 69.95.
