well, I know some people don't like the idea, but I still wish that there were moderators (as there are on other sites to which I subscribe - and I am not talking about family history ones), then at least some people's threads would not be singled out; also I wish that only fee-paying members could access, read and post, and send messages to GR. Joy

Joy I think GR follow the guidelines - its just that most people have better things to do than e-mail them saying 'oh dear someone has put a trying to find on the general board' or 'oops, a look-up request on the tips board'. nell

however, unfortunately, the guidelines are being followed for some and not others. Joy

RECEIVED TODAY FROM GR: obviously we do not want to lose members as we value everyone's contribution to the site. However, we do have guidelines to follow and cannot be seen to be following these guidelines for some members and not for others. Your thread was reported to us and we acted on this report. You have not been singled out by anyone, I can assure you. However, we do investigate all reports of abuse or threads posted on the wrong boards. I am sorry you are upset by this, but we are just following our own guidelines. Nell, glad to see that you have received a reply from GR, more than I have! Hope that they sort out all the problems. The tips board used to be a very interesting and informative, and even sometimes humorous board to read. I have learnt such a lot over the last few months on here. BUT over the last couple of weeks there has been so little that is new. Last night the phantom nudger was at work bringing forward old threads made it look like there was lots going on but most was old and the nudges deleted. Just wish it could be like it was. Jo

Hi Nell, I should think they will look into it urgently, the whole thing is very worrying and needs sorting out in such a way it won't happen again. I think it's awful that GR members can have this happen to them. You have been so upset over this understandably wonder will they be reinstating the thread? I do hope so, small compensation for all this upset. Pat x
