Just looked at Beaminster in more detail and wouldn't you just know it 1811 hasn't been put online yet Baptism registers date from 1684, on line are:-1798-1804, 1813-1820, 1821-1830, 1831-1843. Do you know of any siblings of David that were p'haps born after 1813??

Here's one that fits! 1818; 7th June; Sarah; John & Grace; PEARCE; Beaminster; Wheelwright The one for David is missing from the online records. So your boy had a sister called Sarah :) There's a few more post 1820. Found Grace in 1841 - living on East Street, Beaminster. No sign of John though. Living a couple of doors down from David!

There are 4 possibilities for John in 1841, but none in Bridport or Beaminster. Scratch that - none of them are Wheelwrights.

I guess you want to find David's parents and siblings and to trace further back on this line? A good start would be to look for the family on the 1841 and 1851 censuses - in the Bridport area. John Pearce's occupation of wheelwright should make him fairly easy to spot and hopefully you will then have his wife's christian name and perhaps some younger siblings of David. Then you will need parish records for your David's baptism and for John's marriage to get wife's maiden name. Someone on the Records office board here on GR may have access to these records if you can't get to the appropriate records offices. Sorry everyone else was being helpful while I typed all the above, didnn't mean to repeat what others had already said but good hunting. Judith

The IGI isn't complete, therefore the parish records with Davids info on aren't there. You would have to get hold of the records from the Dorset records office, or your local LDS centre.

If I cannot find any further information on IGI ie parish records - then where do I go. Linda

I think I mis-understood. David was born 1811 and married 1839? His father is John, born pre-1800. David was from Beaminster? I think I have him in 1841, if you want that info.

Hi Tracy Have tried IGI - no luck - looking for another avenue Linda

Linda Assuming you want to go backwards, you need to find the Beaminster parish records to check for David's baptism and possibly his parents' marriage. You might find details on www.familysearch.org - google 'Hugh Wallis batch numbers' to find the right number for Beaminster. You could also see if you can find David and/or his father on 1851 and 1841 censuses, but these aren't well-indexed, so you may have to go through Beaminster or Bridport census returns to find them. nell

You either need to find the 1841 and 1851 censuses, to see if there are any siblings, or you need to locate the parish records. These parish records may be held on the IGI (which isn't working at the moment). The address is http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp&clear_form=true Is his father David or John??
