My way of doing it is to Save the image (using the save option on the census page) Then right click and a box will appear with 'Save Picture As' in it. Click on that and save it as a GIF or JPEG in whatever file you like. I then 'insert' it into Word, crop all the black margins and increase the size of the image to fill an A4 sheet (landscape). Then print it!!! Bev x

Not half as hard as it sounds! Just click on Insert on the top of your blank WORD page, then PICTURE out of the list of options, and then click FROM FILE .......... Then browse until you find the file you saved your image in and click on it. (It's not easy to explain this - far easier to do it, honest!) Bev x

Are you getting the image half way down the page going across? Because if you are there is no problem......dont prat about saving this onto that etc.......... Go through the process of instructing to print, and a box comes up with the word PROPERTIES>>>go to this>>and change the layout from portrait to LANDSCAPE. It automatically prints it out the other way and fills the page.

I do it the way Alter (brainbox) says - before you go to landscape make sure you have the scale on 75%. He is always right . Dea x

I just said it was MY way of doing it - i didn't say it was the perfect way! lol!!! My main computer prints it ok the way Alter Ego says, but my other computer wont print it to size from Ancestry no matter what I do. I assumed Borobabs had a computer like that! Bev x

Bev, hiya. Can you please tell me how to crop them in WORD? I usually just save them, then print to fit page, but they dont always fill the sheet, and your way sounds so much better. Thanks TED.

You can crop any picture except an animated GIF picture by using the Crop command. To crop an animated GIF, trim the picture in an animated GIF editing program, and then insert the picture again. Select the picture you want to crop. On the Picture toolbar, click Crop (looks like 2 right angles on top of each other) Position the cropping tool over a cropping handle and then do one of the following: 1)To crop one side, drag the center handle on that side inward. 2)To crop equally on two sides at once, hold down CTRL as you drag the center handle on either side inward. 3)To crop equally on all four sides at once, hold down CTRL as you drag a corner handle inward. On the Picture toolbar, click Crop to turn off the Crop command. Note You can undo a crop at anytime before saving the picture. Copied from WORD help section!! XX Sioux

Sioux has it about right Ted. Click on the crop thingy and little bars will appear, one on each side of the image. Push them in until you've cut off the black surround, then click the mouse. When you've done that on each side, click off the crop tool and click on the image again. Go to one of the corners and pull it out to the size you want. Bev x

Hi Ted 'Fraid I know nought about Window Imaging .....! But ..... have you got page on landscape (on Page Setup on File menu) If you click on the image, tiny boxes will appear on sides and in the corners, by pushing and pulling those with the mouse you can resize the image. Bev x

Hi Ted, Once you've cropped the image in Word and saved it it will always open as a Word Document. If you want to just have a cropped image, you'll need to open it in a Graphics application. I use Paint Shop Pro. Open the image, crop it according to how your program works then resave it as either a .jpg or a .gif image. Then you can view the cropped image with Windows Picture viewer without all the black surround - I think thats what you're trying to achieve anyway :~D XX Sioux
