I don't know the answer but perhaps its a comfort to know that I have also been getting all sorts of error messages on my tesco email account over the past few days, though today it seems to be behaving properly.

I believe that Tesco isp is connected to NTL, NTL have been having a lot of problems with their email over the last few days. Here is the Tesco Service Status link which will tell you of any problems. http://memberservices(.)tesco(.)net/TescoServiceStatus/ServiceStatus(.)aspx remove the brackets. Anne

Valerie, I'm having a lot of trouble with my incredimail which goes through NTL. Having trouble sending and receiving. I'm sure incredimail is linked to outlook express. Carol

Oops! And I get something similar with Tiscali! I've stopped wondering as it usually rights itself sooner or later.

Googled this: Troubleshooting Outlook Express Error 0x800ccc90 Symptom There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.tiscali.co.uk', Server: 'pop.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user or password', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92 Solution The first step is to check your Outlook Express settings, making sure that the POP3 and SMTP servers are as in the screenshots, and that your full user name and password are correct. Then test your connection by following this procedure. Click the Start button then RUN type in cmd on (Windows NT/2000/XP) or Command (Windows 95/98/ME). This will open a new command prompt window, with white text on a black screen. Type in the following exactly as it appears. You will not see what you are entering so take it slowly, and if you make a mistake, start again. telnet pop.tiscali.co.uk 110 and then click the Enter key on your keyboard. You will then be connected to the email server. Type in USER followed by your email address e.g. USER [email protected] and then click the Enter key. You will then get a message +OK Please enter your pass, with the PASS command Type in PASS followed by your password e.g. PASS joblog0370 and click the Enter key. If it is correct, you will get an OK Well done message. If you can do this, you have connected to the Tiscali server and so the problem lies somewhere with Outlook Express. If you can't get in this way either, it could be that your password has somehow become corrupted. Try changing it in My Account. Try again. If this doesn't work, it may be that TCP/IP has somehow become corrupted within Windows. So try reinstalling TCP/IP. To do this Click Start Settings Control Panel Network connections Right click your connection and click Properties Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click Uninstall Then close down your PC and open it up again. Follow the same steps as above, but instead of clicking Uninstall click Install. On the screen which appears, click Protocol and then Add Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then OK (You may be prompted for your Windows installation disk at this point. If you run Windows XP, the process is slight different. You need to Click Start Run Then type in Command In the screen which appears, type in netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt If you're still having problems, it could be that Outlook Express is itself corrupt. Microsoft's Instructions on how to delete it and reinstall it, along with making a backup of your address books etc, are located here for Windows 95, 98, and ME and here for Windows 2000.

Until your Outlook Express is straightened out you can always go directly to Tesco's homepage and sign in at their site to get and send mail! Judy :)

Judith

Judith Report 24 Oct 2005 08:28

We could indeed Judy, except at present their status report says there are some problems with webmail as well. Having said that, touch wood, my Tesco email is working fine this morning.

Hi everyone Ntl ar having big nationwide problems by the sounds of it. Ther status page says ntl internet customers attempting to access www.ntlworld.com maybe intermittantly unable to view content, customers may also be intermittantly unable to send or receive email. This is because of technical fault. Our engineers are aware and currently working to restore service as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. ------ If you are using ntl it wont make any difference if you use oulook or incredimail as its ntl at fault . Julie

Hi Cliff, Brian, Judy Don't worry about Tiscali - on the whole they're pretty good. And if you have no mail on Outlook go to their homepage and sign in. They hang onto messages sometimes! Brian - I'd need to print that out and even then I doubt I'd understand it!! Not very technically mimded.
