I am back from work now. The info I have is: I can find no marriage to william drummond, or death for jemima. eliza moore, marriage to william drummond I can find, does have a sister sabrina/salina. I can find none of them in the 1841 census, and by the 1881 census William had died.

Have you checked all the missing quarters from FreeBMD for the marriage to Jemima or her death (to either eliminate or prove they are all the same family)?? Merry

Forgot to say....did you realise the ''Sister-in-law'' probably should have read ''step-daughter'' in our terms?? Sabina would probably be the dau of Jemima born before she was Mrs Drummond. Are you sure that marriage cert said he was a bachelor?? Ooh, a thought.....if he wasn't supposed to marry his late wife's sister, that would be a good reason for saying he was single!! But where is Jemima's death reg and where is their marriage record?? Mystery.... Still looking for you. Merry

I thought I would look for Sabina Moore in 1861. She is living with her Moore grandparents (Henry and Elizabeth 75 and 70) in Bulwell, Notts. So no help there :O(( Merry

Oh, silly me....I didn't see the Hope in the 1861 census family.......Puts rather a different complection on it, doesn't it........Baptised in St P older than the 1861, but fits near enough with the 1851...... Going to try the other way about. If the 1851 family are not yours (not saying they are not....just contemplating) then where are THEY in 1861? Going to look...... Merry

Well think I will give up for now, looking for him in the cesus's is making me blind. Really hoped this was him, as I say the names Moore and sabrina threw me

The 1851 William is recorded as older that your 1861 chap. The 1851 man is this one: WILLIAM JAMES DRUMMOND Event(s): Birth: 25 FEB 1821 Christening: 15 MAY 1825 Old Church, Saint Pancras, London, England Parents: Father: JAMES HOPE DRUMMOND Mother: CATHERINE Messages: Extracted birth or christening record for the locality listed in the record. Do you have your William on later census records as well as 1861?? ....The William James, above is a lot older than your William's reported age in 1861. The only think tying them together is the middle initial yours had on the 1861 census, but was not on his marriage....... I think these people/birth places are co-terminal too!!!!! LOL :O))) Merry (still looking hard at 1851 indexes)

Merry

Merry Report 15 Nov 2005 12:03

Hell, Brian....What does co-terminal mean???!!!!!!! LOL Not the same place?? LOL Merry !!

BrianW Report 15 Nov 2005 12:02

My gut feeling is that they are two different families. William is the only common factor and even then, although St Pancras and Marylebone are close, they are by no means co-terminal.

Yes, but as I have not been able to find William Drummond on any census earlier then 1861 perhaps I am wrong in thinking this is him.

Merry

Merry Report 15 Nov 2005 11:55

So the 1851 chap was a cabinet maker and the 1861 chap was a painter and glazier..........Hmmmmmm! Merry

The cert was very smudged, but I understood is to say single

Merry Report 15 Nov 2005 11:50

So what did he give for his marital status on the 1852 marriage cert? Widower?? Merry

Lynda Carol

Lynda Carol Report 15 Nov 2005 11:45

Yes, have that marriage, just don't understand this marriage to jemima

Merry

Merry Report 15 Nov 2005 11:42

I can't find anything about a jemima moore. I can find eliza moore and sabrina moore and brothers. I cannot find a death of jemima, or eliza. Jemima would be his first wife. I can't find any of them on the 1841 census

The Bag

The Bag Report 15 Nov 2005 11:26

2 obvious (to me anyway!) suggestions 1) have you tried the 1841 for the moore sisters are there 3 or two sisters - could Elizabeth /jemima be one and the same(although J is much younger) 2) can you find a death for Elizabeth or remarriage to the jemmima

The Bag

The Bag Report 15 Nov 2005 11:23

may i please? Can anybody help with this. I am sure the below, 1851 census, is the William James Drummond I have been looking for. The problem I have is with the 1861 census info. I am definately sure William married, date unknown, an Elizabeth Moore brn Nottingham abt 1834, I have a birth certficate for their daughter. As you can see he is married to a Jemima, with a Sabrina Moore down as his sister-in-law. Is it possible that my GG Grandfather married sisters, was that legal then? or, even with the coincidence of the family names, Sabrina & Moore, is the William in the 1851 census not mine !851 Census William Drumnwod abt 1824 St Pancras, Middlesex, England Head Beeston Nottinghamshire Jemima Drumnwod abt 1822 St Mary, Nottinghamshire, England Wife Beeston Nottinghamshire Susannah Drumnwod abt 1846 St Mary, Nottinghamshire, England Daughter Beeston Nottinghamshire John Drumnwod abt 1849 St Mary, Nottinghamshire, England Son Beeston Nottinghamshire Sabino Moore abt 1843 St Peters, Nottinghamshire, England Sister-in-law Beeston Nottinghamshire ------- 1861 Census Arthur Hope Drummond abt 1857 Birmm, Warwickshire, England Son Birmingham Warwickshire View Record Eliza Drummond abt 1836 Nottingr, Nottinghamshire, England Wife Birmingham Warwickshire View Record James W Drummond abt 1855 Birmm, Warwickshire, England Son Birmingham Warwickshire View Record Selina Drummond abt 1853 Birmm, Warwickshire, England Daughter Birmingham Warwickshire View Record Wm J Drummond abt 1828 Marylebone, Middlesex, England Head
