Despite some people thinking the offer had ended, it still continues and well worth doing to try out this site - which is fab for 1866-1920. Register, click on purchase units, fill in the box for promotion code (the top one only, ignore the second one) with LC2005. Click on continue. Put a tick in 10 units and click continue again. Then have a bit of fun finding a difficult b, m or d. This freebie is still given even if you are already a registered member.

I tried this yesterday morning and it stated the LC2005 was not valid.

Someone did it ok last night. Did you put it in the top box? Thats the one to do the code in, ignore the box underneath. I wouldnt be surprised if it has run out now, today being a new month, but worth trying as a few did it ok yesterday. I will have a quick look later to see if its still going.

I managed to get my 10 free units to work and with them I found my g grandparents marriage at last! I've been trying to find it for over a year. It has been mistranscribed on all the census. On the census they are down as Josiah Pearson which is right and Eleanor Dudson which is wrong. On the register they are down as Josiah Pearson which is right and Eleanor Doodson which is right, just recieved the certificate woohoo, no wonder it took me so long. lol Ria

Definitely followed your instructions re the page and box so perhaps the site is selective ! Received e-mail newsletter this morning with details of the offer so tried again. Eventually got the units but was rejected at first attempt with the same message stating code was invalid. Got there in the end !

As people still seem to be getting them, have another go in case it was a glitsch.

I would point out that if you are searching only use one first name. For some reason if you enter two you can get zilch results. Download the viewer before you begin, in case you want to look at images. Go to the help tab, then DJViewer and it gives you links to download it free. Also, for an unusual surname, by entering just the surname and the whole 1866-1920 period and perhaps an area you know they lived in, bring the whole lot up! You can be surprised by what you find. I found out that way that my Grandfather had been married previous to his marriage to Gran. What a shock!

Thanks Heather - just tried again and did it in about 1 minute. Think I put the promotion code in the second box last time - can't think of any other reason. Certainly no probs this time. Eureka! Jill

Heather Report 5 Dec 2005 10:08

Gill, nope you can get your ten freebies without buying any other units. Go back and follow the instructions to get another 10 for nothing. Robert, in the thread you will see that you need to downland the DJViewer to look at images. Go to the help tab, click on DJVIewer and it gives you the link for a free download.
