Genealogy Chat

I'm trying to trace where my GF and GM lived in 1901 through the census.If i check through the GR link then i can find entries for both their names in the town they should be in,if i try ancestry they are not listed.Is ancestry fully transcribed? They married in 1907 and i'm trying to find any rellies they maybe lived with in 1901,i'm not mad keen on paying a sub at the moment if i can't find them,but don't like imposing on others if i can help it. I'm guessing that for info on two people a subscription/voucher works out quite expensive,and as yet i don't know any brothers/sisters etc they had. Any suggestions

if you put what you have found on 1901 site I am sure some one will look for you. it could be that they are mistranscribed on Ancestry. jeanette

Sorry folks was on the phone,good old lilly,will have to have a good read at this,was a little shocked to see William A Hay as being from Berwickshire,i moved to Berwickshire last year!!!Completely lost as to Twcody though,googled it and no joy at all. And my printer has thrown a wobbly at me this morning,typical. Thanks everyone,now where did i put my thinking head...............?LOL

I think it's starting to make sense,maybe ..possibly. Does this look plausibe,? Chambers,1891 Lewary is single with 4 children,in 1901 Emily is a servant and the three remaining children are visiting the Harley household(?) on census night,also visiting are Martha and Frederick Chambers. Hay 1891 Jane is head of house,widowed,5 children and her brother in law live there also.(William A) 1892 she marries her BIL In 1901 William is head of house,and 3 more children Arthur,Ethel and Frank. Does that look even remotely close?

The birthplace for William as per 1901 is actually Berwick on Tweed. Reg

Well Berwick is only 10 miles from me,at least i have half a chance of finding out who his brothers were. Looks like i've got a north/south migration in there somewhere. Just leaving the 1882 Chambers L_ery Ann record to one side at the moment,just can't work out whether that fits in with anything,possibly another part of the family. Thankyou all again

Think you are getting there with 1891. Did look to see if I could find the 'other' brother she married, think I found the family but couldn't find a marriage for one of the sons to a Jane. Will put up the family I found----just to confuse you more---and if I can find it again!!!!! Gloria
