Thanks for all your replies, folk. I'm sorry I've not answered you all before, but it has been a bit hectic recently. I suppose Augustus could be his middle name, I'll try on that tack. Thanks again all David

Thanks for your replies, I just don't know any more at present. I'll be off the boards for a day or two as I'm going to a funeral in Somerset. Regards david

Was he a twin ? or has he been mistranscribed as William? If you look at above there is william b:1882? Don't think out of the box! anything is possible. Ann

Ann Yes, that is the family, but I just can't find Augustus anywhere. He was known as uncle Gus, I wonder if he could be under that. David

I am looking for : Augustus Nelson on the 1891 he is: Nelson, Augustus abt 1882 Camberwell, London Son St George the Martyr London As the family seem to change their birthplaces from census to census, he could have been born in the Southwark/Newington area. Can't find him on the 1901, and I have looked thro' the birth indexes also. I know he lived to a ripe old age and I met him in the 1960's. David

Think it must be Chettle as there is this birth on Ancestry:- Ellen Maud Chettle Dec. qtr. 1900, St. Saviour, 1d, 61 This would be the 6 month old Ellen on the 1901 census, although she is transcribed as 6 years old, the image actually says 6 months. Kath. x

Heather

Heather Report 22 Jan 2006 23:14

Looks like Chessle for them but about a dozen lines down is what looks like a possible mum and dad and it looks like Chessler for them.

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 22 Jan 2006 23:14

It definitely looks like Chessle on the image, although they are two separate families - Edwin and Maria are one family and the other three another family. I can send you the image if you pm with your email address. Kath. x p.s. Esta could be right, and it could be Chettle.

Esta Report 22 Jan 2006 23:14

I would say Chettle - Maria and Edwin are further down the page aswell !!
