Jan, - you´re not butting in - by all means another pair of eyes might help. Agreed - Sarah on 1871 is granddaughter, and therefore I think she may be illegitmate daughter of Louisa, or daughter from a previous marriage. It is possible that she is the same person as the Sarah Bevins listed on the 1881 census .- with an incorrect or different year of birth. Problem is I cannot find any Wilson / Bevins / Wilks marriages. The only Wilkes marriage I found was the 1874 one to a Louisa Sidney !! - which doesn´t help at the moment

Elaine that 1841 news is brilliant. You have certainly placed a few more names in the pot for the Wilson family. Some which look as though they possibly died in infancy. The plot thickens. Regards Christopher

Re 1861 census Head is named as Wm Wilson Sen - the rest are just listed underneath with their first name and Do (for ditto) Obviousyly the 'ditto' has been transcribed as Sen, rather than Wilson!!

Christopher

Elaine that 1871 entry does look strange. Does it say ‘Sen’ against all the names on the original census? As for the marriage I might have to trawl through the marriages for a set period. I will have a look on Free BMD first. Regards Christopher

Elaine Report 31 Jan 2006 10:23

and where does the name Sarah Bevins come in to it !!

Elaine

Elaine Report 31 Jan 2006 10:20

problem is - I still cannot find a marriage for Louisa - that´s why I was working backwards looking for a possible different surname - unsuccessfully !!

Elaine

Elaine Report 31 Jan 2006 10:19

have you seen this strange mistransciption of Louisa in 1871 Charlotte Sen abt 1795 Brownhills, Staffordshire, England Wife Walsall Foreign Staffordshire Henry Sen abt 1825 Bloxwich, Staffordshire, England Son Walsall Foreign Staffordshire John Sen abt 1837 Bloxwich, Staffordshire, England Son Walsall Foreign Staffordshire Louisa Sen abt 1840 Bloxwich, Staffordshire, England Daughter Walsall Foreign Staffordshire Sarah Ann Sen abt 1860 Bloxwich, Staffordshire, England Granddaughter Walsall Foreign Staffordshire W Wilson Sen abt 1791 Burley Dam, Cheshire, England Head Walsall Foreign Staffordshire The head of household is listed as Wm Wilson Sen (presumably short for senior) and the family have then been listed with the surname Sen !!

Elaine you have connected with Louisa Ok. And it looks like Richard Wilks and Louisa married around 1871 based on Omiah Wilks been born in 1873. Great work, Regards Christopher

Alice you’re onto the Wright family with the Wilson connection. As you can see it looks like Louise had an illegitimate daughter, so the connection looks ok. Regards Christopher

I found this marriage on free BMD Marriages Sep 1874 Bickford Sarah Penkridge 6b 610 Phillips Henry Fitzherbert Penkridge 6b 610 Sidney Louisa Catherine Penkridge 6b 610 Wilkes Richard Hammond Penkridge 6b 610 .... at the moment cannot see a connection other than the name Richard HAMMOND Wilkes - same as the child born 1879. Might be worth keeping to see if there is a connection - was Louisa previously Louisa Sidney ??

Thank you Alice for the information on Richards Birthday details. On the marriage detail I do not have any information at all. I do know that Louisa family were called Wilson and her parents were Henry and Charlotte Wilson. And all the details of that family are based around Bloxwich. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Christopher
