Do you all think that Arthur and Herbert are in fact the older brothers of George and Edward????? And his daughter is mistaken? Lyn

Lynda I'm confused. The death record shows Maria died in 1878 so who is the woman who remarried and had more children? Or are you now thinking that the boys you found in the workhouse aren't yours because they seem to belong to a larger family? nell

Despite George's daughter's insistence, it is perhaps possible that the two youngest children were put into the workhouse and older ones sent elsewhere by the parish. The boys may have been too young to remember much. The workhouse registers would show when they entered the workhouse. nell

It's possible that this could be the brother's birth:- Albert George E. Newbury (The E could be Edward) March qtr. 1874, Mutford, 4a, 752 Kath. x

Possibly the Robert and Maria whose deaths were found: 1868 Dec Marriages Mutford Suffolk Volume: 4a Page: 1530 Eves, Margaret Fuller, Samuel HOOD, Maria Newbery, Robert Though if this is them, I would have imagined they would have had more children born before 1875. nell

Newby, Edward George 1875 June Births Ipswich Suffolk Not the right area, but the children wouldn't have been giving the information in 1881, would they?

I've looked at the birth indexes for 1875 and 1876 and can't find a George Newberry born in the Mutford district in those years. Kath. x

You will have to look through the birth indexes (free at the moment on Ancestry) until you find a birth that looks to be a likely one at the time and in the place you think the birth occurred. The birth certificate will give you parents names. Flixton would be in the Mutford registration district. Kath. x

I need help please !!!!!! My grandfather was George Newberry b1876.in Flixton Suffolk His brother was Edward b1875 in Flixton Suffolk 1881 census says they were both in the workhouse at Oulton Suffolk. George's daughter is still alive and swears that there were only 2 brothers and no sisters. And she confirms that they were in the workhouse. There is no record of either parent. Can someone please tell me how to trace them back further than this? Thank You Lyn
