Geoff you are not thick! You can order certs from the General Registry Office (commonly known on here as the GRO) if you go to the site www.1837(.)co(.)uk (remove the brackets though), with credit card in your little paw you can order from there with the ref you have been given . they cost £7

Geoff, Sorry wasn´t around to answer your request re ordering of certificates but see others have helped out with the replies. Don´t worry - nobody thinks you are thick !! We all started somewhere and despite the fact that I help out on lookups I still consider myself to be fairly new to genealogy. There are a lot of simple questions posted on this board that I don´t know the answers to - but reading the replies the experts give helps me in my own research. Elaine
