Well, I seem to have done very well out of this latest selection of Hot Matches...I couldn't believe it!!!...lol...I usually get the ones that are born in a different country! But this time amongst the 8 pages, I've got at least 6 matches that look very very promising! Now busy typing messages...lol... So its fingers crossed that I get some replies!....lol... knowing my luck I won't get any!... Sue

Even after deletions I've still got nine pages left. I've contacted everyone bar one on page 1 (between 2 and 87 matches), 8 people on page 2 (mainly 2 matches) and random others. Still need a good clear-out before the next lot arrive!

How strange when the rest of us mortals are going slowly from A?? Oh by the way, just would mention I DONT have an Alfred UNknown in my tree!

Most of the time the hot matches don't give me anything useful. On occasions it's even offered me hotmatches for surnames that I've never had in my tree! On the other hand, it has sometimes thrown up some useful ones. I don't usually bother looking at names that don't have places and DoBs. If the combination of name & place is really convincing, I might consider it. On one occasion there was a whole list of names plus DoB; normally not enough, but the particular combination of names & DoB was a conspicuous match to a set I had, so I did follow it up. No breaking of brick walls, but it did show up a legitimate match which I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. What bugs me most is the random way the hotmatch discard works. You can't save discards on more than one page at a time. When you save, the names come back in any old order, so there's no point in saying to yourself, ''I'm on page six, I've just deleted five names, so all I need to do is to jump to page six and look at the last five before I carry on''; you can't do that because the names won't be in the same order as they were before you saved. DAFT! grrrrrgh! :~( Christine Christine

I want to know how Ann from Sussex is getting Ps and Rs when I am still on rotten A's????? Perhaps they are starting from the end and working backwards on yours. I wouldnt stop them though Ann, I have had 2 very good matches from them since they started doing it.

Nope, I still get them? maybe the computer keeps a record of my old tree and matches up to that, i must admit I haven't even gone into the Matches lately . just a thought? Maybe its the old matches I'm looking at?? I'm feeling pretty stupid right now, Ah well whats new:))))) Carrie

Carrie you have made me think. I was wondering if I deleted my tree on here would it stop all the hot matches. Do you mean you no longer get hot matches? As I have quite a few mistakes in mine and tought of deleting it all then starting from scratch, would that do the trick? Hoping Jean!!

What a Great Sense of humour GR has, groan.. I have loads of hot matches but what gets me is I only have my name left on site, I deleted my tree a long time ago???? and none has my name in their tree either??

Figuring that a new batch of hot matches was due, I changed my 24 Browns to grand double-barreled Brown-Blockhotmatches, just to see which names I would get instead. Made it as far as my own surname! Still of absolutely no use, though.

I havent had anything past B yet. Have just split my tree from hubbys and put them on separately. Got an account in his name as well. Had to upload 2 new gedcoms, so I suppose I will get all my A's and B's again. Wonder if I will get any C's or even D's................. I wonder! LOL Margaret

Wow, that has to be the best one yet! Just when I thought they had got through nearly all my Browns, I got a whole load of them today, from all over the world. Nobody with a surname after C in the alphabet at all. Kate.
