There's a Christopher J WOOLVIN on the Electoral Roll on the 192.com site. if anyone has access to this( I don't), perhaps they could get his details and you could contact him. He might be your man - it seems an unusual surname, and unusual combination of initials. Good luck!

I don't know if this will have any significance but Jock tends to be a Scottish name similar to Jack or Jim. If Iris was always known as Nancy could she have married in that name ?

I'd suggest you contact Gloucestershire Records Office to see if they can find the marriage between Iris and Jock, which will confirm his name, and make it easier to find them later on. nell

Have you spotted that the GRO index pages are available free on Ancestry at the moment - while the indexing is in beta/test mode (i.e there are some bizarre errors, which you can usually work around, plus some omissions). Christine

My mother who is 93 has asked me to find information on her sisters children, big problem, the name; I can only go on what she and an Aunt can remember, and this is what I have so far, Iris Annie Davis, mom’s sister, born abt1908 Ryton Gloucester, always known as Nancy, Married Jock could be James (Wollvyn) that’s the spelling Aunt gave me, mom say’s (Wollvin), they married at Ryton Dymock, 1928 and 1934 Mom remembers Iris having four children, Auntie Say’s three. Christopher, Joan, Leslie, Brian, Jock was a postman and they lived in Worcester at the time the children were born, Jock decided he wanted to be a farmer in Wales; Iris would not go with him and stayed in Worcester. Poor Iris was then hospitalised in what mom say’s was a mental hospital in Powick Worcester. All the children were put in care DR Barnardos; but where I don’t know, these are the children mom has asked me to find what became of them, I have searched for births marriages and deaths on Ancestry. I can not even find marriage for Jock and Iris. Any of you have suggestions where to go from here. Mom never saw Iris or the children after they split up. Kathleen
