I have had similar problems in the past, when I contacted ancestry they replied that you should ensure you log out periodically, and regularly clear out cookies, then log on again. I have been doing this since that advice and had no further problems except when the whole site decides it's having funnies like last night, when trying to go to next page in results list and it kept telling me there were problems please come back later, only to find if I went back on the browser and tried again it turned to next page, Very weird!!!!!!

Hi, For future reference,if you don't want to phone or e-mail ancestry, have you tried using their live chat. I found this way of contacting very useful as long as their operators are available. The problem with my subscription was sorted out straight away by using this method. Best wishes Babs

Thanks for all your advice, and the phone number. I have called them and they said they tried to process my membership but it wouldn't accept the credit card. I think it's the same as what happened to someone else on this thread.....with my husband's credit card having been renewed since my last subscription! Thanks for all your help. In case anyone's trying to contact Ancestry, I'd suggest phoning rather than emailing. They are really friendly and helpful. Natalie

I would give them a ring if i were you, i had problems last week with my computer after it was fixed i had the same trouble as you with ancestry, it turned out i had 3 accounts running only paying for one of them i might add, The only one i could view all images was the one i was paying for, you may have the same, you need to know your pass word for that account. If you ring them they will give you your pass word. I have to say they were very helpful. Diane

They are a totally reputable company, so they will sort this out. The number is freefone, which is more than can be said for most enquiry numbers nowdays.

It's a shame Ancestry haven't bothered to inform us of any changes like this. I'm going to phone them, but just wanted to check that I'm not going to end up phoning America and running up a huge phone bill. Does anyone know if the phone number is in UK?

Perhaps you should phone them up and ask what is happening? Kate.

Natalie Do you know for definite they have taken your subscription? Similar thing happened to me. Got the email saying they would automatically renew. But the credit card I had used last year had expired and they didnt tell me so my subscription expired. Jacqui

PS. Kate. Thanks for suggestion. I logged on and off again, but that didn't work either! Don't know what else to try!

Natalie Report 21 Feb 2006 22:08

Fiona. Glad it's not just me! I have a feeling they have only renewed me for a month, but I'm reluctant to subscribe for another year online, until I'm sure that they won't update my membership automatically again (and I end up paying twice). Haven't had credit card bill yet, so can't check how much they took out. Very frustrating! Can't think of any other reason.......can you?

I have the exact same problem. I paid and it says that I am only a registered guest. I have emailed them twice with no reply! Is there a phone number you we can call? Fiona

Natalie - could it be that you have been logged off, and you just need to log on again? Kate.

Natalie

Natalie Report 21 Feb 2006 18:14

Thanks for your replies. They renewed my subscription automatically a month ago. I'm wondering now if maybe they only did a monthly subscription, as on 'my account' it says 'registered guest'. Will have to check o/h's credit card statement when he gets home to see what I've been charged. Meanwhile, thanks for all your help.

Ancestry is working fine for me. I suggest you try deleting cookies and temporary files and see if that clears it. In Internet explorer: Click on Tools > Internet Options On ther General tab, click on the <Delete Cookies> button then Click on the <Delete Files> button. Linda

I've been having problems all afternoon trying to view census images, any year or name. I've now emailed them. I can search and get results just cannot view images.

I am a member and have just logged on to view Censuses but am not getting full information. Advert keeps coming up offering me Delux Service. Has anyone else had this problem....or know what's happening.
