I have a family group & have more or less sussed from the censuses their approx year of birth however I can not find their births, marriages or deaths registered. Any suggesstions please.

have you looked for birth a year either side of what is on census and remember if birthday fall in last 1/4 always best to look in 1st 1/4 of following year Jeanette If you list it here perhaps we can help

Ok the problem as I'm finding with my family is we have alot of the same names repeated! Here's what I'm struggling with:- Shadrack Gale born 1819 (approx) Northill Cornwall - was married to Rebecca Knott 1849 (can find no record of his death) Enoch Gale (son) born March 1850 Calstock Cornwall married Phoebe Knight June 1874 Tavistock (again no record of death) Elisha Gale (son) born approx 1853 suspect in same place as above (no record of marriage or death) Elijah Gale born approx 1854 suspect Calstock Cornwall (no record of marriage or death) Shadrack Gale born approx 1857 again suspect Calstock Cornwall married a Maria (surname unknown) (date of marriage & death unknown). For reference there are 3 areas which births, deaths & marriages are likely to have been registered Tavistock, Liskeard or St Stephens (now St Germans). I have been on Ancestry & plodded through with no luck on the above any help & references would be gratefully recieved. Clare x

Could be one of your marriages GALE, Shadrach Record Type: Marriages Quarter: December Year: 1888 District: Tavistock County: Cornwall Devon Volume: 5b Page: 718 And another one Gale, Elijah Record Type: Marriages Quarter: June Year: 1874 District: Tavistock County: Cornwall Devon Volume: 5b Page: 648

OK, so really you need to trot thru census to get an idea of what happened when and where Shadrack Gale born 1819 (approx) Northill Cornwall - was married to Rebecca Knott 1849 (can find no record of his death) 1) when do you lose him on census and where was he living at the time?

Jess I have Shadrach on census of 1851 & 1861....I know that his wife Rebecca Knott later re-married Thomas Sandercock. Hope this is some help

rebecca is down as widowed in 1871 So he died between 1861 & 1871

It's the full index of all deaths births & marriages. It's free at the moment for all to view. It is time consuming if you don't know the year as you have to view the image from every quarter.

I did a search on all the family members...

You have him on 1861 and 51 WHERE ? when did Mrs Gale remarry and WHERE

Jess... Shadrach shows as being 31 on 1851 census & 42 on the 1861 census 1871 Rebecca shown as widowed & on 1891 Rebecca is now a Sandercock

Ok have found Rebecca Gale's remarriage to Thomas Sandercock was in quarter of June1875 in Tavistock
