Anyway, Elizabeth's middle name is Welsh according to the index image. As for going home, I have to go out in the rain to collect my daughter from school now! And I already have the 'cough connection'... Good luck with your hunting! Kate.

Presumably Mary in 1851 should be Thomas's mother-in-law rather than mother, and this could be Thomas and Elizabeth's marriage: Marriages Dec 1843 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anstee Emma Charlotte St Pancras 1 263 Couch Elizabeth Welsh St Pancras 1 263 Fagioli James St Pancras 1 263 Hall William St Pancras 1 263 Harrison Harriet St Pancras 1 263 Pyrke Harriet Westhill St Pancras 1 263 Roberts Thomas Edward St Pancras 1 263 Singer William St. Pancras 1 263 I will just look at the image to see if Elizabeth's middle name could be Walsh rather than Welsh... Kate.

Walsh's father was Thomas Edward ROBERTS (according to the 1861 census) Surname First name(s) District Vol Page -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marriages Dec 1843 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anstee Emma Charlotte St Pancras 1 263 >>>>>Couch Elizabeth Welsh St Pancras 1 263 Fagioli James St Pancras 1 263 Hall William St Pancras 1 263 Harrison Harriet St Pancras 1 263 Pyrke Harriet Westhill St Pancras 1 263 >>>>Roberts Thomas Edward St Pancras 1 263 Singer William St. Pancras 1 263 It appears that COUCH was his mother's maiden name. Had a quick look at Walsh on the 1861 and this is his family in 1851 (before he was born) to give you the Couch connection: View Record Name Estimated Birth Year Birthplace Relationship Civil Parish County/Island View Image View Record Mary W Couch abt 1788 St Giles, Middlesex, England Mother St Pancras Middlesex View Record Mary A Early abt 1833 St Pancras, Middlesex, England Servant St Pancras Middlesex View Record Amelia Roberts abt 1850 St Pancras, Middlesex, England Daughter St Pancras Middlesex View Record Edwin T Roberts abt 1846 St Pancras, Middlesex, England Son St Pancras Middlesex View Record Elizabeth Roberts abt 1824 Deptford, Kent, England Wife St Pancras Middlesex View Record Lavina Roberts abt 1845 St Pancras, Middlesex, England Daughter St Pancras Middlesex View Record Thomas Roberts abt 1821 St Pancras, Middlesex, England Head St Pancras Middlesex And note an Edwin - who will be Walsh's brother when Walsh is born! These are Walsh's birth and marriage from FreeBMD but no sign of his middle name, so I can't work out whether he is your man or not! Births Dec 1852 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roberts Walsh St Pancras 1b 148 Marriages Jun 1874 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BLACKWELL Eliza Pancras 1b 206 Maynard Charles Pancras 1b 206 REES Sarah Rose Pancras 1b 206 Roberts Walsh Pancras 1b 206 The birth would give (almost) the right age for that Walsh Couch Roberts death, and there are no other Walsh Roberts entries, so I think it must be him, and he added a middle name of Couch for some reason. Kate.

I bet that marriage cert does say Walsh if you get your magnifying glass out!! Merry

Just found this man in the deaths list. Name: Roberts, Walsh Couch Record Type: Deaths Age at death: 39 Quarter: June Year: 1893 District: Fulham County: Greater London London Middlesex Volume: 1a Page: 136 So you have a middle name of Couch, as surname of Roberts and in the 1881 a son named Edwin. What was Edwin's father's occupation on the marriage certificate, deceased or perhaps Tea Dealer or something similar

I think I have found Edwin in 1891 but his father isn't there! If it is him, then his mother is Sophia, but confusingly she is 'wife' of head of household and her marital status is widow! She is 41 born London City, Edwin 11 born Islington, I will see if I can find them on 1881 to check if it is the right family or not. Kate.
