help with 1891 census

Pauline, Sorry haven't been back to this thread for a couple of days. I've gone back a few images to see if the address is any clearer and it looks like Lonning Head a few pages back and then just written as Lonning on the page where William is. Kath. x

There is this family in Brampton on the 1891 census:- Elizabeth Hill abt 1851 Brampton, Cumberland, England Daughter Brampton Cumberland John William Hill abt 1885 Brampton, Cumberland, England Grandson Brampton Cumberland >>>William Hill abt 1811 Brampton, Cumberland, England Head Brampton Cumberland >>>William Hill abt 1855 Brampton, Cumberland, England Son Brampton Cumberland I know the place of birth is wrong, but I have lots of family where the place of birth is not correct. This William works in a spelter (or smelter) works which would fit with the 1881 census and his father is also called William and works as a cotton hand loom weaver. Kath. x

his wife was jane hogg married brampton in 1892 age 35 maybe he was living in brampton carlisle on the 1891 census he was married the next year

On his marriage certificate when he married Jane in 1892, did it say whether he was a bachelor or a widower? Kath. x

Kath... That's the same chap I traced back to 1881 but it doesn't match with the William Pauline has from 1881 for her chap !! ESta

Is this him:- William H Hill abt 1857 Middlebie, Yorkshire, England Head Workington Cumberland There are others in the family but Ancestry is playing up at the moment. I'll just get the other names. UPDATE - Wife is Emily, children Rowland, Frederick and William. Lots of other Hill families on the same page. Kath. x

your other thread says he was botn Yorkshire.........The one I found was born Yorkshire aswell !! Are you sure you have the right chap in 1881 ?

Were ws he born ? I was working back from what I thought was the right couple in 1901 but have just noticed that his wife is Emily ! Everything else matches apart from that...... ****Not the right chap - I've just found himin 1881 with his parents...Not as a boarder****

Hi Joan Sorry about the delay....on the 1881 census he was living at 12 griffing st Workington Cumberland as a boarder but i know he had connections in workington ...has this is where his family settled later on in the 1900s He was married to Jane Hogg at BRAMPTON CARLISLE in 1892 Thanks ever so much

im looking for WILLIAM HILL onthe 1871&91 census please. he was married in BRAMPTON CARLISLE in 1892 and was born in 1857/8 He could have connections in WORKINGTON CUMBERLAND has well Thanks for any help His father was WILLIAM has well
