Can anyone see this family on 1871 census please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is them on the 1881 and I can follow them right up to 1901, but no matter how hard I try I can’t find them on 1871: Agnes Tull abt 1863 Shoreditch, Middlesex, England Daughter Rosemary St 12, St Mary Islington, London, England Eliza Tull abt 1833 Shoreditch, Middlesex, England Head Rosemary St 12, St Mary Islington, London, England Herbert Tull abt 1865 Shoreditch, Middlesex, England Son Rosemary St 12, St Mary Islington, London, England Walter Tull abt 1866 Shoreditch, Middlesex, England Son Rosemary St 12, St Mary Islington, London, England Also in 1871 I have a death reference for the childrens father ‘Henry Herbert Tull – born c.1831 – I have a death ref for him of March Qtr 1871 Shoreditch, age 40. I have been looking for this on and off for about a year now – any help gratefully received. Also if anyone can find either Henry Herbert of Eliza Rowland on the 1861 I will be eternally grateful!!!!! Many thanks Trudy

Real mystery here. Have tried so many combinations on the searches - even using just first names and birth year - none with surnames anything like Tull (checked out obvious ones like Tolley, Tall etc). The only thing I could say is that perhaps with the husband having just died, the family may have been travelling somewhere, or in a workhouse (where sometimes names were just initialised) - or she may even have married again straight away or moved in with another man, using his surname to prevent her family being taken into the workhouse. Women on their own with children often became destitute once the husband died. I have seen a few in my tree who 'married' a month or so after their spouse died!

Is there an address mentioned on Henry Herberts death cert? There is a family called Teyrell which almost matches. They are in Marlboro Road. Shoreditch

Hi, I have some family that i couldn't find in London in 1871. But thanks to some nice people on here i found them Down as Comceley, instead of Connelly, Well the point is that the records are really bad for London 1871 - bad quality - but they should be there somewhere. I'll have a look... No can't see anything either. They must be there somewhere. Goodluck!

Hi All thanks for looking - sorry got sidetracked onto something and couldn't get back here!! Sue - I agree this isn't the right family. Merry - I found those christenings too, but haven't found them in 1861 yet. Marilyn - don't have Henry Herberts death cert yet so don't have the info yet - think I will have to order it.
