An Olde Crone

An Olde Crone Report 29 Mar 2006 23:33

Gerri Sorry to be harsh, but this is a suspect tree, put together from LDS information - and we all know how inaccurate they can be. The information for the individuals may well be right, if it is taken from extracted records but its the linking together of those individuals that is suspect. The baptism dates are, as the others have said, an indication that these people have been baptised after death by a member of the Mormon Church, who HOPES that these people are his ancestors. Please treat the information carefully and check every step! Olde Crone (who once went skipping happily up one of these trees, only to fall off the ladder when I checked certs etc - it had gone wrong about 1861 and everything before that was complete rubbish)

I'm VERY sure he is genuin with his tree matches.....We already did the checking but it's this baptism thing that bothers me! On his messages he signs off by saying,'God bless you and your family ....'.....

LDS?? I know Latter day saint's baptise people after death, so it could be one of their members have researched the family tree and asked to have their ancestors baptised. Mary Rebecca certinly would not have been alive when the claimed baptisum took place! Looks like you may have to do some donkey work and check out the parish registers to be sure. The example you have given id on family search as:- MARY REBECCA KIFF Female Event(s): Birth: Christening: 23 FEB 1840 Hatfield, Hertford, England Death: Burial: Parents: Father: SAMUEL KIFF Family Mother: SARAH Messages: Extracted birth or christening record for the locality listed in the record. The source records are usually arranged chronologically by the birth or christening date. It might be worth checking others to see id you get similar results.. x
