Paul Report 6 Apr 2006 00:46

Has anyone checked GR for Thomas, James or Adeline? Or Ancestry Trees, if there are entries on FamilySearch then someone else might be researching this family. Sorry but I am currently on my 'Pocket PC' and limited to what searches I can do. Cheers ... Paul

Hi Linda Sorry Ive been out and about ths evening. Looks like your White/Pemberton story is twisting again!! Did you deccide what to do re Hannah's and Thomas' marriage cert? I still cant think of a good logical reason why hannah might change her name (and her kids) between 71 and 81. Will have another dig round. Cheers...Paul...

I think I have disprove my own bigamy theory! or dates could be a bit too far out Name: Fanny Pemberton Birth Date: abt 1821 Year of Registration: 1870 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep Age at death: 49 District: Wolverhampton County: Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands Volume: 6b Page: 346 (click to see others on page Thing is this poor lady died and if my marriage between Hannah and Thomas is right he married just a couple of months later Suzanne I have Thomas birth cert and other records

Hi Linda, i saw that marriage entry too but thought....... naaaaa, as already said he states he is a widower in 1861and the marriage for the Fanny Emma Turner is in 1867, but you never know, maybe they lived as man and wife before marrying and did'nt want the enumerator to know??? it's all guessing at the moment.... i really think you need the wedding cert for Thomas and Hannah before you can be sure of anything, lets hope there are no lies being told though...... I did have a look for Fanny Pemberton in 1871 but could'nt find her..

Just out of curiousity how do you know that Thomas' mother was Hannah White and she was born in Tipton in that year? Suzanne

He can't seem to decide between Lancashire, wednesbury or cheshire

Suzanne Report 5 Apr 2006 20:51

LOL.. My what a lot of names and dates and ages!!! I dont think the the above 1861 couple are the same as that Thomas is down as being born in Stockport and on the other censuses he is down as being born in Lancashire? but of course I may be wrong! Suzanne

Suzanne Report 5 Apr 2006 20:21

I see they were it that order and James is a widow? Suzanne

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 5 Apr 2006 20:17

Hi, I dont know about what was said the other day but if they were in that order on the census then Fanny Wife coming after Thomas I would have said she was Thomas' wife anyway??? Or wernt they in that order? Not unusual for them to say they were married when in fact they wernt. Suzanne

after both your wonderful help last night I've been digging a bit further AND wait for it! 1861 we had James Pemberton 70 head Thomas Pemberton 32 son/lodger Fanny Pemberton 35 wife From what I have found Fanny was Thomas' wife not James' Selina Brittain 1867 Jul-Aug-Sep Walsall Staffordshire George Warlow Harries 1867 Jul-Aug-Sep Walsall Staffordshire Thomas Pemberton 1867 Jul-Aug-Sep Walsall Staffordshire Fanny Emma Turner 1867 Jul-Aug-Sep Walsall Staffordshire But they didn't marry till after that census, or is it possible that Thomas married his stepmother? was that allowed?
