And in 1861? View Record Walter Lock abt 1855 location, Norfolk, England relationship city Norfolk Ages are often only recorded roughly on censuses, and birthplaces can also alter. I searched on Walter born Norfolk in 1854 +/- 1 year.

I can't see James in 1841 though :( There is, however, a Stephen Locke in Repps. He's 75 though lol

My tips for Ancestry - Always use soundex or wildcards. Always put the date +/- 2 years. (I sometimes use +/- 1, but only if I know I'm gonna be able to find them lol) Always use the county and/or place as keyword, rather than pob or residence.

i think we all do it diffrent ways. this time my first choice , because its an unsual name i just used Walter and birthplace That theory will not work for john born london though!

Sorry to be nosey...just trying to pick up tips for my search...I cant ever find any info on any of my family members...how far can you go back ??? looking for info on some one brn in 1854 and would like to know his family members but not sure if i can get the info...any ideas ?? janine
