Surely this is one of yours? Name: John Henry Brewer Year of Registration: 1892 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Caistor County: Lincolnshire Volume: 7a Page: 587 I suppose he could be named for your JHB by a sibling. Christine

That Ada Brewer looks like it could be interesting. I know he remarried in Oct 1898, so his fist wife must had died young and not long after they were married

There's a Thirza Roberts in 1901 in Lincs with husband Thomas (only groom listed was Thomas Benjamin Roberts). Christine

I've just looked at the beta image - it does actually look like 1125. Christine

Susan

Susan Report 18 Apr 2006 20:29

I am not sure how long his 1st marriage was. The census is right, by 1901 he was remarried with children. And in 1891 he was living with his aunt. As per usual the info i need is inbetween!

I remembered that you can search on the page-ref on Ancestry. Unfortunately there's a complete pair of couples on 1126 - and on 1156. Will have to come up with an alternative! Christine

I have already trawled right through all john henry brewers between 1888 & 1897 so am sure its him. I will just have to buy the cert. At least i will get a surprise when it arrives!

My bright idea only works if the transcriber was able to read the page number well enough to put a specific page ref in properly. Your ref is a maybe number on FreeBMD/Ancestry, so there's no set of names linked. Foiled! Christine

Susan

Susan Report 18 Apr 2006 20:23

He was born in 1869. The problem with the census is cant find him in 1891, and he was re-married by 1898! So i know he got married and was widowed in between

Esta

Esta Report 18 Apr 2006 20:23

I see he is the only transcribed name..........shame. As you know his name have you found him on 1901 ?.....Might hols a few clues. But how would you know if that is the right marriage ?........buying the cert would give you his fathers name and then you would know if it's your chap.........and of course you would then know the brides name......not bad for £7 !

Susan Report 18 Apr 2006 20:22

Christine, I did find him on Ancestry. I will try that then. Thanks

Susan

Susan Report 18 Apr 2006 20:20

I found his cert ref on BMD, but cant find him on census! He is being a right pain!!

Unknown Report 18 Apr 2006 20:20

You can try finding them on 1901 with married name and then looking for someone of the right first name with birthplace and age on the 1891 census. But this is only really useful if the first name is unusual and they were born in a tiny village! nell

If you found that on FreeBMD or Ancestry, you should be able to click on the page number - it's a link to the other names on the same page. If you're lucky it's just the one pair of names, otherwise it may be up to four couples. Christine
