I'm sure someone out there has and I'd value some advice. Grandfather was an orphan and 'shipped to Canada' as a young child. When he came back he was known by the surname of Morris and married under that name. Had 14 children of which only six survived. The four eldest were all known by the surname Morris. Then came the census of 1911. It was discovered that he wasn't a Morris at all, but a Mellish! The two younger children took that name. How did they find out... I can't go any further back unless I'm sure that was his name. I'm waiting (not very patiently) for late father's birth cert, but that will only give me the mystery man's Christian name. Any thoughts would be helpful at this stage. Lizzie |
