I had a message from this guy a couple of weeks ago, asking if one of my ancestors was married to one of his. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your point of view) she wasn't! L

Paul Reading some of the threads on here, no one could mistake GR for a vicar's tea party! Mind you, I don't think I've ever been to a vicar's tea party, so for all I know they could be a big free for all for the cucumber sarnies!

As I said on another thread, if you were offered a cucumber sandwich at the vicar's tea party you wouldn't be embarrased to accept, would you? But if the bloke next to you scooped a dozen on to his plate and filled his pockets with more, you'd be fairly taken aback. That's the difference as I see it.

Have to agree with alter ego. I am the last person on earth to be nasty to people and don't like bullying in any form; but I don't see why people like DG should USE people in that way because that is all it is - he has no intention of giving anything back. We all like a helping hand or to be pointed in the right direction; but he was definitely taking the proverbial P. Thanks for the warning Old Crone. Don't take any notice of the hand wringers who cant see the big picture. GR won't police this site because all they are worried about is membership fees. They want to keep as many on board as possible - even the vampires. Cheers, Horatia

LOL Ron...... There is a Thomas who was born 1894, but he went and died the next year.....DJG doesn't want to accept that no one can find another Thomas. (We are just NOT good enough!) Maybe if we paid a professional researcher they might find him??......hang on whilst I look for a professional......Ah, here's one....his name is, Dami...............Oh! Merry

Well, look out for requests on the names Neale, Gevaux and Harper! I think it's just up to regular helpers not to be afraid to state on someones thread if it's felt they are taking the p***. We don't have to be rude, just make it obvious to other helpers to take care..... Merry

i have know idea who the person is as i missed the thread, however if you put you cursor over the person's name the membership number will come up, so if you take note of the number if the person changes his name it will still be the same membership number..... i just hope whoever it is, i dont sit for hours doing look ups for them lol kim

I was stunned when I read this was going on. As I have been helped, I like to try and give a little back.. and have a look at threads to see where I may be able to help. I had no idea these things went on... and thank you for opening my eyes! I hope I haven't helped this person in the past & not knowing, wasting MY time, MY effort & MY money. I will still continue to do look-ups for people who GENUINELY are stuck.. as I hope others will continue to do for me. Susan :-) P.S... I do have a question though..... can this person not just change their name?..... then how will we know??

The wimps that complain or object are never the ones that end up helping these p1sstakers.....simple as that......they dont see the big picture and the damage that these parasites do to this site and the good people on here. He deserves everything coming to him with his methods.

Didn't Jess devise a system? Wasn't it (sign for hash - not on my keyboard!!). Only problem with that is, no-one except us would know what it meant! I think all we can do really is PM each other and possibly put a pointed reply on an offender's thread? Olde Crone

Crone, you have done us all a great service. I think we should devise a code to warn each other of transgressors when we find them. None of us wants to be accused of abuse, so this would allow us to warn each other without breaking the rules. Can I suggest the code 666 in the subject heading?
