hi i wonder if someone could help me find the aspinall family on the 1891 census. i have them on the 1881 and i know the daughter sarah ann married in 1896 to john oneill ( these were my grandparents ) but i cant find the family anywhere after 1881. sarah lived in the same area for all her life . see below in a mo love linda x

It looks as though Peter died in Leigh in 1884.

I've found Jane and Sarah Ann!!............

Going on the assumption that Peter died between census I then looked for a possibe marriage for Jane before 1891 (so would have a different surname in 1891 which is why we couldn't find her). now i am confused i dont know whether the jane aspinall who died was sarahs mother or the jane aspinall who remarried was her mother. would she have given her maiden name or married name on her second marriage. her maiden name was ainscough. i am getting confused love linda x

just found nancy ainscough marriage to john quigley and found them on 1891 census but they dont have sarah living with them . so perhaps jane aspinall did remarry ?

She would have married under her previous married name ie Jane Aspinall but it would also show her birth (maiden) name. It just seems too much of a coincidence for the one I found on 1891 to be Jane Nugent with a daughter Sarah Ann Aspinall with correct age and place of birth. I guess if you bought Jane and John Nugent's marriage cert it would give more clues. I'm just about to look at 1901....... joanne

joanne i agree with you. i think the peter aspinall death was her husband and the james aspinall aged 7 was her son she had a son james born 1881 so i think that is correct. i know that sarah had married in 1896 so she wont be on the 1901 census. she married a john oneill and she died in 1967 in leigh the other mystery i have is that sarah married in oldham in lancashire. and i dont know why because both she and john oneill where living in leigh i know she was pregnant when she got married so perhaps thats it. but i wondered who was at oldham ? joanne thanks ever so much for your help. i would have been going bonkers trying to sort it out on my own love linda x

that could be joane but what has happenned to edward and john they both must have died ? and i wonder why sarah didnt take her in. although sarah had lost her own child of dyptheria in 1899 aged 3 and had another child to look after and one on the way by 1901. god bless her. love linda x
