Hi Elaine, Sorry I haven't replied earlier, but had to rush off to work - I've just got back. I see what you mean now, just re-read all the thread. Thats a shame. Still, I'll still have a play around with the documented events list and see how I can use it. Sorry if I caused any confusion!...not thinking very clear 1st thing in the morning! Sue

Sue, The 'documented facts' is different. It lists everyone on your tree - and under their name puts any sources you have included in your tree. What Fred is talking about is having a source title, with a list of names under it.

I've just looked at my 2005 version and I think there's a similar option, but under a different heading... Click reports tab, then at the bottom is documented events... I can't stop now to have a play with this, as I've got to go to work, so I hope it helps those with the 2005 version. As I'm going to Winchester RO on Saturday, this will come in very useful!... thankyou all....learn something new every day! Sue

Fred, I understand how you create the sources, e.g. 1841 census not found --- but how do you 'report the source usage' ?? Update - sorry just seen your comment in an earlier thread - go to - View/Reports/Source Usage Maybe this is new with 2006 because I cannot see it on the 2005 version.

One way would be to create a source for each i.e 1841 Census not Found 1851 Census not found Birth Not found etc etc attach the relevant source/s to the individuals name, and if you then report the source usage you will get a list something like 1841 census not found --------------------------------- Fred Bloggs Joe Bloggs John Smith 1851 census not found ---------------------------------- Joe Bloggs etc etc Simply unattach the relevant source from the individual as and when necessary and re run the report

Heide, I havnt tried to add sources that Might???? belong only the ones from a websearch that I could merge in;; But if you go to source button it says new sourse;; so maybe you can click on there and add the ones you want to save ;;; then you can delete at later date;; but if you print off any reports with the source added they will be there;; Babs

Not sure if this is what you mean but if you have added the censuses etc as sources to the individuals record , (i.e if you find them on 1841 Census you add that as a source on the persons record) , then you can go to View/Reports/Source Usage. This will list all the sources and who and which fact they are linked to. Sounds complicated the way I explain it but try it and it is very easy. Fred

I was really after something that cross references the people on the tree with the list of sources, example below... When you enter great-great-uncle Albert, you can 'tick' having found him on the 1901, and enter the folio etc. Whereas with great-great-aunty Mable you don't tick cos you haven't found her. Then later when you want to see who you you're missing from the 1901, you click on that field and it shows you a list of everyone on your tree either with details or without, so you can see easily who you've got to search for and who you've already found. Does anyone know if it can do this please? At present I'm using Excel, and having to manually cross reference the sources to the people...

I know on the 2005 you can create a 'things to do' list,don't know about the 2006 version though. If i select 'view' then scroll down the dropdown to 'research journal' i can view the journal or add a new item. Glen

Add fields to relatives like - 1891 census, 1901 census, birth record, marriage record, etc so you can click on the '1891 census' field and see which relatives you've found on it and which you haven't yet ? What I mean is to create a quick list of targets to search for on the census or BMD, instead of going through each relative to see what sources you've got for them ?
