i know the answer to this is probably no but i wonder if anyone can help me. i have received my grandfathers death cert i never knew him he died in 1940 aged 47years. on it it says he had some kind of heart failure due to chronic pleurisy and bronchitis that was probably brought on by the effects of mustard gas. he was 21 at the start of the war in 1914 and married my grandma on feb 21st 1914 i have the marriage cart and his occ is a coal miner. would he have been drafted into the army i cant see him volunteering when he had just got married although my mum was born 8 months later. i have no relatives i could ask and no photos so how could i find out what he served in and where. my mum died when i was young so there is no one to tell me love linda x x
