On the 1981census RG12/ 3051 I have 3 children living alone. John age 10, Dominick age 6 and Mary Ann age 7. All Bolan step children living at no 25 Stuart St. Is it usual for children to be listed as step children without parents?. How do I trace the parents? Quite by coincidence on the same page is the person that I was really searching for. Richard Moore age 7 living at no 15 Stuart St. Now later in life I know for sure that he married a Mary Ann Bolan. Is this too much of an easy coincidence? Any ideas please. Thanks Denise. Also please can you tell me how to put my messages in paragraphs, I type them in paragraphs but then It jumbles them all together. Thanks again.

I cant find them in 1881. Can you give more details re place etc. GR always jumbles the first box, if you have a lot to write, just put 'Please see below' in the first box and then add another message to put the info into paras.

I don't believe they are living alone. Although they are at the top of page 19 I think they are part of the family at the bottom of page 18: Michael Counell head 39 coal miner b.Wigan Eliza Counell, wife, 27 b. Standish, Lancs Andrew Counell son 2 b Wigan James Counell son 9 months b Wigan nell

Thank You all. How do you do it so quickly? Nell yes you are right, I never thought of that. It makes sense as somewhere I have a Connell as a witness on one of my Moore marriages. Thanks again Regards Denise.

I wasnt the Connell person. The thing is ALWAYS look at the image and particularly if someone is at the beginning or the end of the page look before and after.

hiya, it comes with practise doing searches so quick, but it does help if you have as much info at the start, which helps to narrow things down alot. no matter how insignificant you think it could be the vital clue which finds the family, on the subject of the Moore/Bolan marriage if you know fathers names, would another census search help to locate family before they became connels???? just a thought Julie
