Sound of trumpets!!!!!! 1861: Charles Edwards abt 1838 St Georges East, Middlesex, England Son Stepney St Dunstan Middlesex Elizebeth Edwards abt 1820 Stepney, Middlesex, England Daughter Stepney St Dunstan Middlesex James Edwards abt 1836 St Georges East, Middlesex, England Son Stepney St Dunstan Middlesex Margret Edwards abt 1795 Shields, Durham, England Head Stepney St Dunstan Middlesex Isabella Long abt 1853 Stratford, Essex, England Visitor Stepney St Dunstan Middlesex >>>>Catharine Mitchaels abt 1858 St Mary Islington, Middlesex, England Daughter Stepney St Dunstan Middlesex >>>>Esther Mitchaels abt 1816 Minorius, London, England Lodger Stepney St Dunstan Middlesex Sariah Underwood abt 1791 Carshalton, Surrey, England Visitor Stepney St Dunstan Middlesex Actually, I think the Edwards family are recorded separately, just in the same house, on the census page. Esther is a widowed furniture dealer! Catherine is aged nine on the actual page, not three (looks nothing like a three!!) Found this by searching for ''Esther'' born ''Mino*'' (for Minories) Merry

OneStopGenealogy Report 11 Jul 2006 22:30

An Olde Crone Report 11 Jul 2006 22:25

Dont know if this will heklp or hinder, but as this is obviously a Jewish family, it may be that the marriage was conducted using their Jewish (Hebrew) names. Have you tried JewishGen? OC

Bridie

Bridie Report 11 Jul 2006 22:19

More likely that she died than remarried in those days especially as they didn't live that long in general. Starting with 1851 when you last have her I found this death entry in Mar Q 1853 - Michael, Esther, Aberystwyth, 11b 58 (I think). Nowhere near geographically but a starting point perhaps ... There's another Esther Michael death entry in Jun Q 1854 in Cardigan - equally far away.... How sure are you she was still alive for the 1861 census?

I'm admitting defeat with this one,not even under christian name only searches. There's probably some horrid mistranscribed version of the names that needs finding. Glen

OneStopGenealogy Report 11 Jul 2006 20:35

as I say Glen, they may be connected but I just cant find a link yet...its not just me then..lol

OneStopGenealogy

OneStopGenealogy Report 11 Jul 2006 20:34

yes thats right Kelly.. they are my gt grandparents. Kate died giving birth to her 12 child in 1896. My grandmother was born in 1895. It has taken a long time to find Kates parents as Kate wasnt born on the 1851 census, cant find her on 1861 and by 1871 she was married

Glen In Tinsel Knickers

Glen In Tinsel Knickers Report 11 Jul 2006 20:30

Something seems odd here, but i did find an Isaac Michael, with a son called Levy Michael,in Islington in 1871.They had a servant called Sarah Levy born abt 1845 in Spittalfields. Just seems strange with the names, but maybe just a coincedence. Glen

Ive trawled through all the marriages.. nothing comes up I have found 4 of the the children in later census, both Sarah & elizabeth married a Solomon Joel and Kate married Isaac Levy. i have found Joseph.. but not Michael anywhere. i was hoping that Esther might be with one of them.. but not yet

Glen In Tinsel Knickers Report 11 Jul 2006 20:06

Nothing obvious comes up. Have you found any of the family in any other census? When you say you haven't found a re-marriage,is that through the partial images or have you trawled through the full images? Glen

I am trying to find an Esther Michaels (Michael) born 1811 in Middlesex on any census after 1861. i have her with her husband Samuel on 1841 & 1851. Samuel died late in 1851. She lived in Islington. I believe the records for Islington dont exist for 1861, as I cant find her with her 10 year old daughter Kate(Catherine) then. I cant find a further marriage for her either. Can anyone be a better detective than me. Thanks everyone They also had a son, Michael Michaels.. who is being elusive....
