My Aunt Hilda Walsh was in the land army, she was born Leeds. Was posted in East Suffolk. I have a photograph of my aunt with friends Dot, Audrey, Connie and Maud taken at Red House Mettingham, Bungay, East Suffolk in August 1944. |

I was in the Land Army. You could choose the area where you wanted to work, within reason, after the first posting. I lived in Cheshire, was first posted to near Holywell, North Wales and then went back to Cheshire. Loved every minute of it. |

Hi My mother in law went from Co. Durham to Kent, it is possible that she requested to go to this area as her chap was posted south on war damage duties. It would be interesting to know if there are any official records for these women....does anyone know? Ellen |

As I recall there is a brief reference on the National Archives website. |
