Hi Jim, I signed up for the free trial recently and had no trouble cancelling it. I just emailed them a few days before it was due to run out and I had no problems. Matt

If anyone wants Hartlepool records go to Hartlepool.gov.uk It is one of best sites as it has all BMD 1837 upwards records on web. Just put in name you want and date, up to 5yearand you will be told where it is.

You still have register with Ancestry to view the BMD's but it is a free account, they just ask for first name and last name and email address.

Jim, The two weeks Ancestry free trial is definitely worth it, and don't worry about getting stung it is VERY easy to de-register provided you are organised and make a proper note of the date. I de-registered myself on the 13th day (to be on the safe side) with no probs whatsoever by calling the number given on the site - the guy I spoke to was lovely, very helpful, I didn't have to go through loads of silly number punching to get through to the right deparment...if only the people who provide my phone/internet/TV services were so easy to contact!!! REALLY Sorry Georgina !! It was just that on this time period Family Relatives is a lot quicker and I just happened to be already logged into the site. - Did send you a 'quick' pm. to say 'don't start on the trawling' but you obviously didn't get it quick enough. Apologies for causing you to waste your time. Dea x Have also sent pm. Dea x

Jim You don't have to be a member of Ancestry to see the BMD indexes. They are FREE You just have to register, they won't want any card details for that.

I have tried to avoid logging in for an Ancestry free trial as I havre heard too many stories of people being unable to unregister and getting stung for the Annual Subs. I can'yt afford to let that happen.

If you have their names, rough places of birth, mothers maiden name etc, one of us could go through the pages on Ancestry. It's just a few minutes work. I'd offer to do it myself but I'm at work at the moment so I couldn't really look at it until this evening. Put the details up anyway.

The only thing that I can suggest is trawling through the indexes which are free to view on Ancestry. I have done this many times, trawling through 10/20 years to find what I wanted. Also the Family relatives site, although that isn't free. Lynn Whoops, I wasn't quite fast enough!

Stella Rose was born in 1918. She had an elder brother James. Their parents married in 1913. The area would most likely be Hartlepool 10a.

The Free BMD at present only goes up to about 1911. I am looking for the births of two children born between 1912 and 1918. Any suggestions please?
