I can't see your General post, but perhaps you could define the word 'useful' - to whom? for what purpose? In the meantime, I presume you use Scotlandspeople which is the best for searching, but you should also look at a new (six months old) forum called Scots Family Tree (http://scotfamtree.11.forumer*com/index.php). There are about 400 members some of whom are very experienced and willing to help carry out physical searches at the Mitchell Library and other Scottish reference centres. There is a strong emphasis on the historical aspects, not just collecting names. The BB is properly organized and moderated (unlike the mess here at GR) and there is a relaxed friendly atmosphere; rather like GR used to be, I gather! Also its FREE. |
