Prisoner of War in Lamsdorf

Whilst delving into the depths of my husband's side of the tree we have discovered an uncle of his was apparently a POW at Lamsdorf 344 camp. I have the following information: Louis Glenister Prisoner of war in 344 Lamsdorf No: P/JX26403 N0 865 I don't know which regiment he is from although my husband seems to remember he may have been in the Marines. I have tried the official sites for Lamsdorf, and A2A as well as some of the other sites that have come up on here recently with no success. Does anyone have any ideas where else I can try? Sue |

Sue The Official Number P/JX ********* indicates he was a long service Seaman/Communications rating in the Royal Navy and his Port Division(P) was Portsmouth. With this info you should be able to get a copy of his service record via address given on Veterans' Agency site, Royal British Legion site etc. If you are not aware , Lamsdorf was also known as Stalag Luft VIIIB, in Poland. |
