Annie was married in 1890 to Richard Thomas Eaglestone in Greenwich. I can find them in 1891 and 1901 so no problem there then! lol However I cannot find Annie prior to 1881. In 1881 she was a servant born about 1860 in Blackwater, Cormwall. I cannot find a birth record for her either. According to her marrige cert her father was George (deceased), a mariner. Any help would be appreciated please Gerry :-))

Unfortunately not Maureen. The one thing I know for sure is her father's name was George. Gerry :-))

This may solve part of the mystery. The only Hoyte born in Cornwall in 1860 was: Births Mar 1860 (>99%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HOYTE Joanna Truro 5c 190 Could your 'annie' really have been Joanna ??

Alison

Alison Report 16 Feb 2007 11:59

And, according to the 1861 census, Joanna Hoyte's father was George Hoyte, however only conflict is that he is listed as a copper miner, not a mariner: Name: Joanna Hoyt Age: 1 Estimated birth year: abt 1860 Relation: Daughter Father's name: George Mother's name: Elizabeth Gender: Female Where born: St Agnes, Cornwall, England Civil parish: St Agnes Ecclesiastical parish: Mithian County/Island: Cornwall Country: England Street address: Occupation: Condition as to marriage: View image Registration district: Truro Sub-registration district: St Agnes ED, institution, or vessel: 8 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 41 Household Members: Name Age Elizabeth Hoyt 37 Elizabeth Hoyt 2 George Hoyt 36 Joanna Hoyt 1 William Hoyt 4

1871 just posting this one but will have to look at image Name: Johanna Heigle Age: 11 Estimated birth year: abt 1860 Relation: Daughter Father's name: George Mother's name: Elizabeth Gender: Female Where born: St Agnes, Cornwall, England Civil parish: Illogan Town: Highway County/Island: Cornwall Country: England Street address: Occupation: Condition as to marriage: Disability: View image Registration district: Redruth Sub-registration district: Illogan ED, institution, or vessel: 12 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 144 Household Members: Name Age Elizabeth Heigle 46 George Heigle 45 Jaifer H Heigle 9 Johanna Heigle 11 Mary Heigle 7 William Heigle 14 I think it could be Hoyle but a second opinion would be welcome but again occupation is not a match

Alison

Alison Report 16 Feb 2007 12:31

Yes looks like Hoyle to me. But all through, this George's occupation is of a miner, copper and tin etc. Are you sure the marriage certificate states mariner, and not miner ?

If you said MINER in a heavy Cornish accent, then the Registrar might hear Mariner. OC

Gerry

Gerry Report 16 Feb 2007 16:53

Sorry everyone. Had to go for a nap!! Its been doing my head in!! LOL I understand what you are saying OC. Mariner could easily be misunderstood by a Curate in Greenwich hearing a Cornish accent. Btw, yes the Heigle one looks more likey to be Hoyle which makes the water now positively black!! lol Thank you all for your efforts Gerry :-))
